Teaching background
Mr Ethan is a mathematics tutor currently reading Physics at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His university training has given him strong mathematical rigour and an appreciation for precise, logical reasoning, which he uses to clarify abstract concepts and show students how mathematical ideas apply to real problems.
With three years of teaching experience, Mr Ethan structures his lessons around a clear conceptual foundation first, then progresses to targeted past-paper practice and timed drills that build accuracy, speed, and confidence under exam conditions. He guides students to understand the reasoning behind each method so they can apply the same concept flexibly across different question types.
Mr Ethan adapts quickly to each student's strengths and weaknesses. He diagnoses gaps early, tailors explanations and practice to close them, and stretches students who are ready for more challenging work. His lessons balance remediation, consolidation, and extension so that every student makes steady, measurable progress.
Mr Ethan's problem-solving credentials include a Silver Medal (Final Round) at the World Mathematics Invitational 2019, placing him among the top 15% of competitors worldwide, and an ICAS Science Gold Medal in 2018, where he ranked top in Indonesia. He draws on competition-level problems to challenge high performers, while using clear incremental steps and regular progress checks to support students who need to strengthen their foundations. Mr Ethan is available for 1-to-1 tuition across various math levels on request.
