H2 Math Tutor
Tim Gan has 18 years of mathematics teaching experience, beginning his career as an MOE teacher in Singapore before founding Tim Gan Math. During his MOE years, he led his school's Math Talent Management Programme — coaching students through competitions including the Singapore Mathematics Olympiad (SMO), the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO), the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), and the UNSW Math Competition — and every class he taught exceeded the expected MSG predetermined by MOE. He was also entrusted with mentoring beginning teachers.
Across O Level, A Level, and IB HL Mathematics, Tim keeps his explanations simple and grounded in layman terms. In his experience, most students aren't held back by a lack of effort — they're held back by shaky conceptual foundations that make practice feel fruitless. His lessons therefore begin by shoring up understanding before moving into rigorous practice and conceptual testing, with questions grouped by increasing difficulty so weaker and stronger students can pace themselves within the same class.
He is a firm believer that excellent grades in the O Level and A Level Examinations are within reach for every student, given the right structure and guidance. His Live Tuition Classes add a competitive element that motivates students to learn from one another, while higher-order thinking questions and video explanations let them stretch themselves at their own pace.
Education
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Honours), NUS
- Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE Mathematics), NIE
- Master of Science (Mathematics for Educators), NTU (NIE)

IP & O-Level Math Tutor
Mr Lai is an experienced educator with many years of teaching experience in MOE, where he worked with students of varying learning abilities and academic needs. His strong classroom experience has equipped him with the skills to explain concepts clearly, manage different learning paces, and help students build confidence in their subjects.
He was also previously a tutor at our centre for many years, teaching Secondary and IP students. Recently, he took a short study break to further his studies in Education, allowing him to deepen his understanding of teaching strategies and student learning.
Mr Lai is well-versed in the Singapore syllabus, particularly for IP and O-Level students. He is also highly experienced in managing group classes effectively, ensuring that lessons remain structured, engaging, and productive for students. His combination of MOE experience, centre-based teaching experience, and further training in Education makes him a strong and reliable tutor for students preparing for key academic milestones.

IB Math Tutor
Mr He is a former lecturer at Raffles Institution (RI), one of Singapore's top schools, where he taught mathematics at the highest academic level. He brings with him deep subject mastery extending well beyond the IB syllabus, grounded in university-level mathematics — the kind of depth that lets him anticipate where students will get stuck and pre-empt misconceptions before they form.
Within the IB programme, his focus is on bridging the gap between understanding a concept in isolation and applying it confidently in the unfamiliar contexts that IB examiners favour. His lessons move students from passive recognition to active problem-solving, combining rigorous explanation with exam-technique coaching so that students walk into the examination hall both prepared and composed.

H2, H1 & A Math Tutor
Mr Ng holds a Master of Science in Data Science and Machine Learning from the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he also completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Mathematics, specialising in Operations Research and Financial Mathematics, with a second major in Statistics and a minor in Economics. This depth of training lets him show students how the concepts they're learning connect to one another and to the wider world of quantitative thinking.
He has taught across O-Level, A-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB), and university-level courses, in both tuition-centre and 1-to-1 settings, giving him a broad feel for how different students struggle with the same ideas. In lessons, he favours guided questioning over direct answers — walking students toward the reasoning themselves so that the logic behind each formula becomes intuitive. Alongside this, he drills exam-specific problem-solving strategies, flags common pitfalls, and trains students to verify their own working under time pressure.
Patient and encouraging by nature, Mr Ng takes particular pride in watching students move from dependence to independence — from waiting for the next step to trusting their own reasoning.
Education
- Master of Science (Data Science and Machine Learning), NUS
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Mathematics, NUS
- Second Major in Statistics, Minor in Economics

IP, A & E Math Tutor
As a recent graduate in Physics from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Mr Lim possesses a robust foundation in mathematics and the analytical problem-solving skills central to both disciplines. His background in Physics has provided him with advanced mathematical proficiency, allowing him to navigate complex problems with a high degree of precision and clarity. Leveraging this expertise, Mr Lim excels at demonstrating the practical application of mathematical concepts within physics scenarios, helping students develop a more profound understanding of both subjects.
Drawing on extensive 1-to-1 tutoring experience, Mr Lim tailors his teaching approach to the specific needs of every student. He recognises that each learner has unique strengths and individual learning styles, and adapts his instruction to suit these diverse aptitudes — focusing on helping students build both confidence and mastery in their mathematical studies.

IP, A & E Math Tutor
Mr Ethan is a mathematics tutor currently reading Physics at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His university training has given him strong mathematical rigour and an appreciation for precise, logical reasoning, which he uses to clarify abstract concepts and show students how mathematical ideas apply to real problems.
With three years of teaching experience, Mr Ethan structures his lessons around a clear conceptual foundation first, then progresses to targeted past-paper practice and timed drills that build accuracy, speed, and confidence under exam conditions. He guides students to understand the reasoning behind each method so they can apply the same concept flexibly across different question types.
Mr Ethan adapts quickly to each student's strengths and weaknesses. He diagnoses gaps early, tailors explanations and practice to close them, and stretches students who are ready for more challenging work. His lessons balance remediation, consolidation, and extension so that every student makes steady, measurable progress.
Mr Ethan's problem-solving credentials include a Silver Medal (Final Round) at the World Mathematics Invitational 2019, placing him among the top 15% of competitors worldwide, and an ICAS Science Gold Medal in 2018, where he ranked top in Indonesia. He draws on competition-level problems to challenge high performers, while using clear incremental steps and regular progress checks to support students who need to strengthen their foundations. Mr Ethan is available for 1-to-1 tuition across various math levels on request.

Math Tutor
Mr Surya is a second-year undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Economics. With a strong academic foundation in Mathematics, Economics, and Chemistry from the International Baccalaureate programme, he combines analytical rigour with clear, approachable communication to help learners build confidence in quantitative concepts.
Mr Surya believes that every student progresses at their own pace, and that lasting understanding begins with anchoring new ideas to what learners already know. He starts each session by assessing a student's comfort level, then tailors explanations using real-world examples, visual cues, and simple language. For students who need more support, he breaks concepts into smaller steps and checks understanding frequently; for those ready to advance, he introduces stretch questions that encourage deeper thinking.
He is comfortable simplifying complex terminology, adapting his communication style for different ages and language backgrounds, and creating a supportive environment where mistakes are part of learning. Whether guiding students through mathematical reasoning or exam preparation, Mr Surya brings patience, structure, and a genuine belief that every learner can succeed with the right guidance.
